How busy is busy?
I had a busy January. I knew it would be busy from a bit out. February seems to have gone in a flurry of tidying up from January. March looks really busy because of the capital gains tax changes. April will be like February. Easter is early and I want to take a week off (which is not looking straightforward). I also always fish a couple of days in March which entails a 5+ hour journey north and back. I drove 80 miles to Perthshire to fish in a gale on Saturday and then 150 miles south for a night out on Saturday night. I enjoyed both. I got up at 7.00 to go to London this morning and have now been camped in the lounge at Euston working for three hours waiting for the sleeper. I like to fill time up, but I would sometimes like to feel in control. Some people seem to be - I tell myself its an ability to say "no" thing. I am not good at it.

Its just occurred to me, not so busy that I can't write this drivel!
There's always time to write a blog! April - yuk. Tax time! Hate it and get rather fed up of being contacted by the accountant for this, that an'tother.
My journeys back and forth to Berwick become more frequent as I'm frantically supplying him with information.

I am aghast at your willingness to drive such distances; I go all wobbly just taking a trip to Homebase, if I can't fit in the weekly shop, an errand and a visit to the pool.

I've just read your comment on John's blue blog-
it is an interesting opinion, a vote in an area where a property is owned, and monies paid to the local council-
My idea (until I met so many nice second-home owners!) was to levy a community tax to all second home owners, to make up for the loss of human resources to committees, working groups, etc, the money going directly to the community where the house it situated.
I do think second home owners should contribute financially to a community, and don't think 90% is unfair.
I just think it is a crime so litle of the cash comes back to where it's needed....
You'd get two votes! What would you do with the spare one?

I don't really get offended.
I sort of agree and have no real problem paying my 90%. If I could I'd happily live there all the time, pay my 100%, have my bins emptied every week and contribute in other ways. I do however also feel that there should be some correlation between local government taxation and use of the services it provides and I use very few either here or in Belford, so I hope and believe that across the piece (at least,and perhaps only, in financial terms) I am a net contributor.
I don't see any real illogicallity in having two votes - I have a genuine interest in what happens in both communities.
You have not talked yourself out of another picture sale, although we currently have a moratorium on picture purchases, pending the purchase of another house in Northumberland which we intend to occupy properly. We will however then have more wall space!
